Long associated with tropical paradise, Hawaii's white sandy beaches, lush forests and towering volcanic peaks never fail to amaze. This island paradise may be America's 50th state, but its position in the middle of the Pacific lends it a feeling like no other part of the US.

Thanks to its abundance of stunning beaches and unique volcanic sea floor (which creates huge waves), Hawaii boasts some of the best surfing in the world. Today the more active can have surf lessons on the iconic Waikiki Beach; and those who prefer more leisurely pursuits can savour the laid back lifestyle that can be found on the beaches and coffee shops that offer wonderful views of the rolling surf.

Hawaii offers some delicious fusion dishes, with fish featuring heavily. Expect to find food influenced by Asia, South America and Europe with the best recipes and ingredients taken from each region. Naturally, with Hawaii being part of the USA, expect to find all that this country does well too – with burgers, pizza and steaks all featuring on menus.
